Last updated: May 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Pacific Urban Agriculture Ltd. ("GardenLedger", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the website gardenledger.org. This policy is governed by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

1. Information We Collect

GardenLedger collects limited information in two ways:

1.1 Information You Provide

When you submit the contact form on our About page, you provide your name, email address, and optionally a phone number and message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. It is not shared with third parties, used for marketing, or retained beyond 12 months after your inquiry is resolved.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

When you visit gardenledger.org, standard server logs record your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This information is used in aggregate form to understand how visitors navigate the site. Individual records are retained for a maximum of 90 days and are not linked to personally identifiable information.

If you accept cookies through the cookie banner, we may set analytics cookies (first-party only) to understand which articles are read most frequently. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioural tracking.

2. Cookies

GardenLedger uses cookies for two purposes:

  • Functional cookies — record your cookie consent preference so the banner does not reappear on subsequent visits. These are set regardless of your consent choice and are necessary for the cookie banner to function correctly.
  • Analytics cookies — set only if you accept cookies through the banner. Used to measure aggregate page visits and referral sources. No personally identifiable data is associated with these cookies.

You can reject analytics cookies through the banner or clear them at any time through your browser settings. Rejecting analytics cookies does not affect site functionality.

3. How We Use Information

Information collected by GardenLedger is used exclusively to:

  • Respond to contact form inquiries
  • Understand aggregate traffic patterns to improve article content
  • Comply with legal obligations under Canadian law

We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Data Retention

Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months after the inquiry is closed or resolved, then deleted. Server logs are retained for 90 days. Cookie preferences are stored in your browser and persist until cleared.

5. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent to collection and use of personal information
  • Request deletion of your personal information

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@gardenledger.org. We will respond within 30 days of receiving a written request.

6. Security

GardenLedger takes reasonable technical measures to protect information collected through the contact form, including HTTPS encryption in transit. No transmission over the internet is completely secure; contact form submissions should not contain sensitive personal or financial information.

7. Links to External Sites

GardenLedger articles link to external authoritative sources including government agricultural agencies and established horticultural organizations. We do not control the privacy practices of external sites and this policy does not apply to them.
